Simona Quadarella: A Brief Biography

Simona Quadarella is an Italian female swimmer born on 18th December 1998. She is a native of Rome in Italy. Simona is a Freestyle specialist and represents her country in 400m, 800, and 1500m Freestyles.

Background:

Simona Quadarella was born to Giuseppe Carlo Quadarella and his wife. She was born and brought up in Rome, Italy. She has a sister Erica Quadarella.

Simona began to take up swimming at a young age. She attended Liceo Scientifico Statale Louis Pasteur (Scientific High School Louis Pasteur) in her hometown. While at high school, she joined the Fiamme Rosse swimming club to receive her first training.

After graduating from high school, Simona joined the Link Campus University in Rome, where she had pursued her degree in Economics. She currently trains with Canottieri Aniene swimming club and coach Christian Minotti.

Rise to Glory:

Simona Quadarella received her first international breakthrough in 2014 when she won two Gold medals in 800m and 1500m Freestyles. That year, in August, she took the home Gold medal in 800m Freestyle at the Youth Olympics.

At the 2015 World Junior Championships, Simona won the 1500m Freestyle Gold and a Silver medal in 800m Freestyle. In 2017, Simona won her first national medal by taking home a Silver medal in 400m Freestyle at the Italian Swimming Championships. That year, in August, she clinched two Gold medals in 800m and 1500m Freestyles at the Summer Universiade.

In 2019, Simona won two national titles in 400m and 1500m Freestyles and a Silver medal in 200m Freestyle at the Italian Swimming Championships.

Simona Quadarella holds national Long Course records in 800m and 1500m Freestyles and Short Course record in 1500m Freestyle.

Major Achievements:

Simona Quadarella made her senior international debut at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships, where she won the Bronze medal in 1500m Freestyle. The following year, she won the Silver medal in 800m Freestyle at the World Swimming Championships.

In 2019, Simona clinched 1500m Freestyle title and a Silver medal in 800m Freestyle at the World Aquatics Championships. That year, she bagged two Gold medals in 400m and 800m Freestyles at the European Swimming Championships.

At the European Aquatics Championships, Simona had won two consecutive titles in 400m, 800m, and 1500m Freestyles (2018 and 2021) and a Bronze medal in 4x200m Freestyle.

Simona Quaderella will compete in her debut Olympics at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and is one of the strong contenders to medal in 800m and 1500m Freestyles.
