Valiyaveetil Diju: A Brief Biography
Valiyaveetil Diju is an Indian badminton player from Kerala who, along with partner Jwala Gutta, is a National mixed-doubles champion. He started off his career representing Calicut University at All India University Championships. In 2002, Diju along with his partner won the Indian National Badminton Championships (doubles) at Lucknow following which he won the Bitburger Open Championship in Germany. It was a major breakthrough for him as it was India\'s first mixed-doubles Grand Prix win. In 2006, he won bronze medal in Commonwealth Games at Melbourne. On 30 August 2009, Diju and his partner Jwala Dutt competed at the mixed doubles event to win a Gold title at the Chinese Taipei Grand Prix. Later that year. the pair went on to pick up a couple of silver medals at the World Super Series Masters. Diju and Jwala competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics but were unsuccessful in their campaign.
