No, Negan Smith does not die in The Walking Dead. Even though he went through a near-death experience in the episode 'Warth', he is very much alive and will show up in the show's spin-off series.

The American post-apocalyptic horror television show, The Walking Dead, premiered on October 31, 2010, on AMC. The show is based on the comic book series of the same name which was created by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. The show takes place after the onset of a worldwide zombie apocalypse and revolves around sheriff's deputy Rick Grimes who wakes up from a coma to a world that's been ravaged by zombies, aka 'Walkers'. Grimes then goes on to become a leader of a survivor group from Atlanta, Georgia.

As the series progresses, this group has to make sure to stick together in order to safeguard each other from the walkers, as well as other groups by using any means to stay alive. The series features an enormous star cast playing the role of these survivors.

Negan, who later goes by the name Negan Smith, is one of the main characters and a former antagonist of the show, The Walking Dead. Negan first made his appearance on the show through the sixteenth and final episode of the sixth season as an antagonist. Smith is shown to be a charismatic, manipulative, cocky, and ferocious man who is also a ruthless leader of the Saviors (a group of survivors in the show). Negan alone was the leader of the vast group and even though he was brutal he was still shown to care about the well-being of his group. He was praised by many and feared too. In the start, Negan was shown to be a complete dictator of the group and also a cold-blooded killer who will resort to any means to survive and ensure the survival of his group.

In the series, Negan and his group started on the wrong foot with the Rick Grimes group. Negan Smith used to kill not only for survival but also to send across a message to those who would defy his sayings. He is known for hating the weak and having great respect for those who are strong and who have the bravery to go against him, though he used to punish them too. With the same ideology, when Daryl Dixon (the main character and a member of the group that Rick Grimes led) punched Negan in the face, he was left impressed by his bravery but also ended up killing his friend Glenn Rhee (who also was a member of Rick Grimes's group) for his defiance.

Negan Smith's most famous weapon for killing is his baseball bat which he named Lucille (the same name as his ex-wife). The baseball bat is wrapped with barbed wires and he used it to kill the walkers as well as kill/punish those who try to cross him. He killed Glenn Rhee with the same bat after Daryl Dixon attacked him.

American actor Jeffery Dean Morgan played the role of antagonist/anti-hero Negan Smith in the AMC horror drama series The Walking Dead. Before this show, Morgan was well known for his role as John Winchester in the CW horror-fantasy show, Supernatural. He is also known for his role as Denny Duquette in Grey's Anatomy.

Jeffery Dean Morgan has done a phenomenal job in playing the role of Negan Smith according to the viewers and critics. Robert Kirkman who is the executive producer of the show himself was left impressed with Morgan's work as Negan in the show. Kirkman said, “The character of Negan, especially how Jeffrey Dean Morgan portrays him, is so warm and engaging, while threatening and terrifying. You don’t want him to kill you, but you are engaged in the entire scenario and you don’t want him to stop talking. Because of that, his character is going to be very well-loved despite what he does.”
