A Long Road is about exploring the emptiness of a desert and finding all the tools you need to survive. The game starts you off in a cabin, where you can use rudimentary materials to craft a car and fuel it to get started on your journey. Building a car is simple: place each part where it belongs on the chassis and you will be done in no time.

As you drive out of the cabin’s garage and onto the road, you must keep an eye on four different gauges: Fuel, Hunger, Thirst, and Health. Fuel is replenished through Jerry cans that can be found in various structures next to the main road. You can refill your Hunger and Thirst gauges by consuming food found in mini-fridges in the same buildings.

The main road you drive on does not end, with a scant presence of sheds and shacks on either side acting as your sole reprieve. Currently, the game is in the Alpha stage of development, so everything in this experience is subject to change.

• Endless Open World: The open world has no end and you can move in any direction once you leave the starting cabin. You will encounter various sheds and other small structures along the way to facilitate your survival, but not much else. This may change in the final release of the game, considering it is still early in development.
• Build a Car: You can build a car using the parts you find in the first cabin and other structures along the way. Pick up a part using F and place it in the correct area to build the machine. Once you’ve placed all parts correctly, open the fuel cap and fill up the tank before hopping in and starting the engine.
• Survival Mechanics: Survival plays a large role in this game, as allowing your Hunger and Thirst gauges to run out will cause your Health to deplete. If allowed to run out completely, you will die and be sent back to the initial spawn point. Each cabin, shed, or shack you come across has a few items to help you recover these gauges.
• Planned Updates: The game’s early development stage means that various updates and features will be added over time. Features like a lobby are expected to become a mainstay for the experience, while bugs will be squashed with each update.
