Anime Defenders recently received an update that overhauled the game’s balance and added a few new units into the mix. This update has resulted in a significant meta shakeup, causing some of the best units of the previous patch to slip down a tier. Certain units have also received a much-needed shot in the arm through the introduction of new characters, causing them to climb up the tiers.
This tier list ranks every unit in Update 2 in a digestible way. The guide is structured to give you a quick look at which units will be meta, allowing you to remake your team loadout quickly.

Ranking all units in Update 2 for Anime Defenders
S-tier: The All-Mighty
The units listed in this tier rule the meta, offering effects that are unparalleled in the game. Team synergy does not matter much to these units, making them the safest possible options. Even a team with nothing but these units being run together will prevail in nearly any mode with their unyielding assault or support abilities.

A-tier: The All-Rounders
The units in this tier are great but can use an extra oomph through support units. Like their peers in the S-tier, A-tier units are safe options as well, but they are slightly behind their higher-tiered counterparts.
B-tier: The Good
B-tier is home to units that offer nothing special when compared to the units in higher tiers. They are serviceable enough, but their flaws have to be covered by other units on the team for them to be anything special. Consider these options to be last-slot shoo-ins.
C-tier: The Bad
The units in this tier can be somewhat effective in certain scenarios, but you’re better off not relying on them for long. Niche scenarios and support unit buffs aside, these options can crumple under endgame pressure, making them unreliable at best and quite bad at worst.
Consider replacing them with better alternatives the moment you get them.
D-tier: The Unworthy
The units listed in this tier are not worth putting on your endgame team. Their performance is lackluster, particularly when stacked up against every other tier in this guide. Unless a future patch boosts their performance to be on par with their peers, you’re better off not using them.
