Crossblox is a high-speed first-person shooter that tests your shooting skills against other players. It features seven different game modes, two of which are Zombie-themed. The simpler and easier-to-grasp version of these Zombie modes is the Infection Mode, which pits Zombies against Humans. The undead must attempt to infect the living, while the living must fend off and eliminate the former.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Infection Mode in Crossblox.

The Infection Mode in Crossblox is fairly simple in design, which makes it a great way to break the standard shooter gameplay loop featured in other modes. At the beginning of a match, it keeps all players in the Human group. After a 20-second countdown, some of these players are transformed into Zombies, which is when the round properly begins.

Humans must strive to eliminate Zombies before their onslaught turns them into an undead walker. In contrast, the Zombies are tasked with infecting as many Humans as they can before the timer runs out. Each round lasts up to three minutes, which is more than enough for one faction to secure a decisive victory.

Players must attempt to fulfill their objectives within the allotted time or risk the other team winning. Upon securing the win, the most valuable player is declared, and the winners are rewarded with Coins before the next match starts.

Humans

Humans are the gun-wielding faction of the game, who can use the loadouts they set in the hub world. Each Human can wield a primary large weapon, a sidearm, a knife, and a grenade, making them offensively flexible. That said, they lack survivability and can be turned into a Zombie fairly quickly. This makes it important for Human players to remain vigilant.

One of the players can be chosen to be the Hero for the round, which lets them use a unique primary weapon and dual-wield secondary ones. The Hero is the most powerful player archetype on either team, making them a lethal force for the undead. That said, their resistance to zombification is not particularly better than a typical Human, which is why it’s advised for Heroes to remain equally cautious.

The win condition for Humans is to eliminate all Zombies while avoiding being turned.

Zombies

Zombies are fewer in number at the beginning of a match, but they are also highly durable. It can take several seconds of constant fire for a Zombie to go down. Despite being somewhat less flexible than the Humans, they are still a force to be reckoned with and can quickly take over the opposing faction.

The primary attack that a Zombie relies on is a melee swing, which can transform the affected Human into a walking dead as well. Since the undead can bolster their numbers very easily, this makes any skilled Zombie player a formidable threat that the Humans may actively avoid.

Infecting Humans allows Zombies to access two advanced states — Evo I and Evo II. Infecting three members of the enemy team causes the first transformation, increasing the player's damage and max HP. Similarly, the Evo II state can be achieved by infecting seven Humans, bringing the Zombie's attack and HP values to their limits.

Unfortunately, accessing these evolved states outside of the shooting range is effectively impossible since this is a fast-paced PvP experience.

Zombies secure the win when most, or all, the Humans have been transformed.
