Hide or Die is about surviving as a Hider while one of the players on the server hunts you down.

The game starts off as an asymmetrical survival experience, with one playing the role of a Seeker, while the others attempt to hide away. The role of a Hider or a Seeker is assigned randomly at the start of a match. Players will have higher chances of becoming the Seeker if they spend too many games in the same role.

Hiders have a unique ability to morph into the various props that are scattered across the map. This ability serves to make the Seeker’s job more difficult, potentially leading to them wasting their time examining every last prop.

On the other hand, the Seeker can use a gun to shoot objects and target the Hiders. Shooting props causes them to disappear while doing the same to a Hider reveals their health bar. The Seeker must eliminate the Hider to score a point and add the eliminated player to their team. As the Seeker’s rampage continues, the number of their newfound companions increases as well.

The game ends when every Hider has been eliminated or if a Hider manages to escape the Seeker’s notice until the timer runs out.

• Asymmetric Survival: At the beginning of a match, the odds are stacked against the Seeker. When the match starts, Hiders receive a 20-second grace period to hide themselves away while the Seeker is unable to see anything. However, this dynamic can quickly shift in the Seeker’s favor if they manage to eliminate enough Hiders. By the end, should they eliminate enough Hiders, the Seeker’s team can make the match rather difficult for the remaining Hiders.
• Morphs: The primary hiding mechanic for Hiders is the Morph mechanic. It lets them press a button to transform themselves into any of the props that can be found on the map. Examples include laptops, chairs, desks, plants, and more.
• Perspectives: While Hiders remain strictly in the third-person view, Seekers are locked to the first-person perspective, giving them access to precise aim. Simultaneously, this lowers their field of view, limiting how much of an area they can see at a time. This balances both roles, giving them notable strengths and weaknesses.
• Coins: You earn Coins by completing a match and fulfilling your objective. The better you perform, the more Coins you receive. As a Hider, better performance equates to survival, while eliminating every Hider is congruent to success for Seekers.
• Shop: The Coins earned in a match can be used to open Crates at the in-game shop. Crates give you access to Seeker weapons, though these are cosmetic only and have no bearing on your performance. You may also access other shop features like Gamepasses, Coin Packs, and more.
