Rides are a theme park's center of attraction and the elements that govern a park’s silhouette. Being the heart of an amusement park, rides serve multiple roles in the game. They generate revenue, draw in a crowd, and make your park stand out. Their costs, placement strategy, and space requirements define a park’s layout, making them the very center of a funfair.

Barring any physics-related discrepancy, the game does not impede you from placing a ride anywhere in the empty lot. You can freely place your Droptower right next to the Teacups without affecting your revenue, so long as they both have entry and exit points. This leads to the creation of some of the most unique fairgrounds, which only expands as your revenue stream skyrockets.

Each ride has an entry charge collected from visitors. If a ride is priced too steeply, the guests will react accordingly and avoid using it altogether. Conversely, if its pricing is fair, your clients will react favorably, generating more revenue and drawing in more visitors. How you manage the prices for each ride determines the growth rate of your amusement park.

Rides can be unlocked by completing missions, unlocking in-game achievements, and reaching specific star ratings. Use a mixture of the different rides available in the game to create an enjoyable experience for the visitors. Simultaneously, keeping it varied will give the park a pleasant silhouette, perhaps even inspiring others to make a new layout.

The different types of Rides

Rides are broadly categorized into five types: Gentle rides, Intense rides, Roller coasters, Water rides, and Transportation rides. These are complex in their own way and require you to plan around their qualities.

Gentle rides are low-intensity options that are pleasant for the visitors and generally attract more visitors. These are used quite often due to their universal appeal and cost less to place in the empty lot. Examples of such rides include Teacups, Spiral Slide, Observation Tower, Carousel, and Ferris Wheels.

Intense rides are the antithesis of Gentle rides, being a relatively less favored option that tends to cause nausea in visitors. Their build prices start at $950 and become higher the more complex the ride. You can choose from Droptowers, Topple towers, Flying carpets, Frisbees, and more.

The third type is the Roller Coaster, which is typically the main attraction of an amusement park. It gives the park its identity, making it important to pick wisely. These attract the most guests out of any other ride type and can be customized completely. Some smaller coasters start at a building price of $250, while complex ones can set you back by $4,000 or more.

Water rides are also a popular feature in the park, starting at a building price of $250. Despite their limited selection, you can add them to the park to bring in new guests and generate income. These include Swan boats, Log flumes, and River rapids.

Lastly, Transportation rides are functional attractions that take visitors from one part of the park to another. Each ride is accompanied by a station, which must be allocated its own space. Currently, there are two Transportation Rides in the game: the Transport Train and the Monorail. They cost $300 and $550 to place, respectively.
