Southwest Florida is a roleplaying experience where you can take on the role of a citizen in a fictionalized version of Bonita Springs, Florida. One of its central mechanics is the job system, which allows players to accept a job and earn a steady income as a working member of society. One such job is the Criminal, where your primary role in the game is to rob people and create a criminal empire.
This article dives into everything you need to know about Criminals in Southwest Florida and how you can have a continuous supply of cash as a Crime Lord.
An overview of the Criminal job in Southwest Florida
Criminals are an oddity in the job system of this role-playing experience, being the ones that do not contribute positively to society. This makes their progression a little different from other jobs, where promotions are handled based on employee conduct. Additionally, criminals don’t have a steady source of income. They must rely on robberies and thieves to make money instead.
All criminals start as low-level thieves, who perform small-time illegal activities like robbing a cafe or gas station. As they continue making a name for themselves in the local underworld, they gain notoriety that eventually ranks them up. Eventually, they will become a leader of their criminal crew, organizing races and complex heists to cash in more money than ever.
Since they are opposed to the law, criminals also get access to weaponry. They can equip guns and find hidden ammo boxes dotted across the map, giving them an easy way to reload without needing a gun store.

Criminal Ranks and Robbery Opportunities
Starting as a thief, a Criminal will rank up every time they rob someone successfully without getting caught by the law. Illegal activities such as this are the only way a Criminal can rank up and become better at their job.
There are five ranks in total, which include Thief, Grunt, Ring Leader, Felon, and Crime Lord. Each rank increases the breadth of possible criminal activities, making the Criminal more efficient at the job and earning them more income. Of course, as a Criminal becomes bolder, so does law enforcement, effectively acting as the sole resistance against a rising Crime Lord.
All ranks but Crime Lords require 80 seconds to rob a place completely of its belongings. They have access to specific locations on the map and must wait a certain duration before they can intimidate a victim a second time.
The Crime Lord stands out among the rest, as they have the potential to earn the most money. As a consequence of their degree of criminality being higher, they must also wait longer for their robbery to run its course. Additionally, they must wait for 30 minutes before being able to rob a bank again.
