There is no doubt that Russia has produced an array of talents over the years, both in men’s and women’s tennis. A large chunk of the WTA’s top 100 comprises Russian athletes. Among the best of them, is 30-year-old Ekaterina Alexandrova. Born on November 15, 1994, in Chelyabinsk, Russia, Alexandrova turned pro in 2011. At the 2024 Miami Open, she turned plenty of eyes by reaching the semifinal, defeating Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula along the way.

Alexandrova finished finalist at the 2024 Linz Open, where she lost to Jelena Ostapenko. She also reached the quarterfinal of the Miami Open and the 2024 Qatar Open. Alexandrova emerged as a quarterfinalist in singles and a semifinalist in doubles with Katerina Siniakova at the 2024 Wuhan Open.

Ranked No. 31 in singles by the WTA as of January 2025, Alexandrova is a ground-stroke dominant player and likes to be the aggressor in rallies. She made her WTA debut in 2016, and after breaking into the top 100 in 2017, she became the No. 1 Russian player in 2019. She is being coached by Evgeny Alexandrov and Petr Kralert.

Ekaterina Alexandrova Titles Won

As of January 2025, Ekaterina Alexandrova has won five titles in total — four in singles and one in doubles.

Ekaterina Alexandrova won her first title in doubles, the Budapest championship alongside partner Vera Zvonareva. The following year, she announced herself on the singles circuit by taking home the Shenzhen crown. In 2022, she won two trophies at ‘s-Hertogenbosch and Seoul, before retaining her ‘s-Hertogenbosch title in 2023.

In addition to her pro circuit successes, Ekaterina Alexandrova also has some additional titles to her name. She has won three WTA-125K Series tournaments - all in Limoges. To go with this, the experienced campaigner has tasted victory in the Billie Jean King Cup with Team Russia in 2020.

Ekaterina Alexandrova was born in Russia but lived a large chunk of her life in the Czech Republic. She moved to Prague back in 2006 and has been living and training there ever since. She was born to parents Evgeny and Julia in 1994 and has two siblings. She began playing tennis at the age of six and grew up idolizing legends Serena Williams and Steffi Graf.
