Born on March 21, 1992, in Louny, Czech Republic, Karolina Pliskova is a Czech professional tennis player. She achieved her career-high singles ranking of No. 1 in July 2017, and held the position for eight weeks. In doubles, she has a career-high ranking of No. 11.

Pliskova started playing tennis at the age of four and won the Australian Open junior title in 2010. She made her grand slam debut in 2012 at the French Open and won her first WTA singles title at the Malaysian Open in 2013.

Pliskova has won 16 singles titles in her career so far, including the Cincinnati Open and Italian Open. Her best major result till date was reaching two finals, at the US Open in 2016, and Wimbledon in 2021.

Karolina Pliskova has an identical twin sister, Kristyna Pliskova, who was born two minutes earlier than her. She is also a professional tennis player. They were born and raised in Louny, Czech Republic, and both sisters began playing tennis at the age of four.

Karolina Pliskova won the girls’ title at the 2010 Australian Open while Kristyna Pliskova won the Wimbledon girls' singles title the same year. The twins won their first WTA doubles title at the Linz Open in 2013, becoming the first twins in tennis history to win a title together.

Kristyna Pliskova Career

Kristyna Pliskova won the Wimbledon girls' singles title in 2010 and made her WTA Tour main draw debut at the Prague Open in 2007. She won her first ITF title in May 2010, where she defeated her sister in the final.

Pliskova made her Grand Slam debut at Wimbledon in 2011 and won her first Grand Slam main-draw match at the 2012 Wimbledon against Polona Hercog.

Pliskova has won one singles and five doubles titles on the WTA tour. She also won nine singles titles and eight doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. She achieved her career-high singles ranking of No. 35 in July 2017, and a career-high doubles ranking of No. 44 in June 2021. She holds the record for the most aces (31) in a match on the WTA Tour, in her 2016 Australian Open match against Monica Puig.

What happened to Kristina Pliskova?

In December 2021, Pliskova announced that she was expecting a baby with footballer Dávid Hancko. In May 2022, she announced that she gave birth to a baby boy, who was named Adam. She has been inactive on the WTA tour since. According to the WTA website, Kristina Pliskova has won over $3.5 million in prize money till date.
