With this, he became the oldest player to achieve the No. 1 spot. Ram has won 31 ATP doubles titles, including six major doubles titles and five ATP Masters 1000 titles. He won his third consecutive US Open in 2023, alongside partner Joe Salisbury.

At the international level, Ram and Venus Williams won the silver medal in mixed doubles at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio De Janeiro. His performances in recent seasons are commendable given he is in his late 30s. He also won a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics in men's doubles.

Rajeev Ram was born in Denver, Colorado, to Raghav and Sushma Ram. He started playing tennis when he was four. As a junior, he won nine national titles, including the Target Cup tournaments and the U18 Easter Bowl. He also played tennis at Carmel High School and became state champion in singles. Ram and Brian Baker finished runner-up at the 2002 Wimbledon junior doubles championship.

Before turning professional, he played college tennis for the University of Illinois and won the 2003 NCAA Team Championship. He won five doubles Challenger titles in his professional journey, partnering with Bobby Reynolds. He won his first ATP doubles title in Chennai, India, along with his doubles partner Eric Butorac. One of his biggest achievements is winning four professional-level matches in one day.
