Alexander Wennberg, born on September 22, 1994, is a Swedish professional ice hockey player currently playing for the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League (NHL). Before joining the Rangers, Wennberg played for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Florida Panthers, and Seattle Kraken. Prior to his NHL career, Wennberg gained experience in the Swedish Hockey League(SHL).
As one of the top European prospects eligible for the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Wennberg was ranked fifth among European skaters. Eventually, he was selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets as the 14th overall pick. Subsequently, in May 2014, Wennberg penned a three-year entry-level contract with the Blue Jackets.

Alex Wennberg Early Life
Alexander Wennberg began his career with Djurgårdens IF under-18 team in 2010-11, scoring eight goals and recording 12 assists in 22 games. Following this, Wennberg scaled down various levels within the Djurgårdens IF. Notably, he made his Swedish Hockey League (SHL) debut during the 2011-12 season and later played for Frolunda HC in the league.
Around the same time, he represented Sweden at various competitions, including the 2011 U19 World Junior A Challenge and the 2012 U18 World Junior Championship tournaments. Remarkably, Wennberg was ranked fifth out of all eligible European skaters available before the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. During the draft, Wennberg was selected as the 14th overall pick by the Columbus Blue Jackets, ultimately signing a three-year, entry-level contract with them in May 2014.
