Carter Verhaeghe is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward playing for the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Remarkably, he began his NHL journey when he was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs as the 82nd overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Initially, he began with the Maple Leafs' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate team, the Toronto Marlies where he stayed before getting traded to the New York Islanders in exchange for Michael Grabner on September 18, 2015. While there, he played for the team's AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and former ECHL affiliate, the Missouri Mavericks. However, he was again traded (in 2017), this time to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Kristers Gudlevskis. This moved turned out to be a memorable one as he made his NHL debut with the team in 2020 and won the Stanley Cup the same year. Following this, he signed with the Florida Panthers as a free agent and has become a key player for the Panthers over the past few years.
