Casey DeSmith is an American professional ice hockey goaltender for the Dallas Stars in the 2024 NHL season. He played three seasons at the University of New Hampshire before starting his pro career with Wheeling of the ECHL in 2015. DeSmith gained attention during the 2015-16 season with standout performances in the AHL playoffs, including a record-setting 59-save game for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The following season, he led the AHL in goals-against average and save percentage, forming a strong goaltending duo with Tristan Jarry.

DeSmith made his NHL debut with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2017, earning his first NHL victory and shutout the following season. After several seasons with the Penguins, including a memorable playoff start in 2022, he was traded to the Montreal Canadiens in 2023 as part of the Erik Karlsson deal. He was later traded to the Vancouver Canucks before signing a three-year, $3 million contract with the Dallas Stars on July 1, 2024.
