
Christopher Tanev is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He started his junior career in 2006, playing for the Durham Fury in the OPJHL. In the following season, Tanev split his playing time among three teams. He spent the season playing for the Durham Fury, Stouffville Spirit and Markham Royals. He signed with the Vancouver Canucks in 2010 and made his NHL playoff debut in 2011.
Tanev scored his first NHL goal in February 2013 and signed a five-year extension with Vancouver in 2015. He joined the Calgary Flames in 2020 on a four-year, $18 million contract.
