Ian Cole is an American ice hockey defenseman playing for the Vancouver Canucks in the National Hockey League (NHL). Born on February 21, 1989, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Cole began his NHL career with the St. Louis Blues, when they drafted him as the 18th overall pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Cole has played with multiple NHL teams, including the St. Louis Blues, Pittsburgh Penguins, Columbus Blue Jackets, Colorado Avalanche, Minnesota Wild, Carolina Hurricanes, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Vancouver Canucks. Ian Cole was born to parents Connie and Doug in Ann Arbor, Michigan on February 21, 1989. He began his pursuit by skating at the Yost Ice Arena, Buhr Park and the Memorial Ice Arena. Growing up, Cole played for the Ann Arbor Amateur Hockey Association at the Ice Cube.
Moving forward, Cole went on to play with the U.S. National Team Development Program between 2005 to 2007. Later, he went to play college hockey with the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish in 2007.
