Jack Hughes is the alternate captain of the New Jersey Devils in the National Hockey League as of December 2024. He was born and raised in Orlando, Florida. His professional career in the National Hockey League began when he joined the New Jersey Devils in 2019. Hughes officially made his debut in the NHL in a match against the Winnipeg Jets, where the Jets defeated the New Jersey Devils. According to Spotrac, Hughes signed a $64 million contract with the Devils for eight years in 2021.

Jack Hughes earned a silver medal at the 2019 World Junior Championship and also won silver at the 2018 World U18 Championship, along with a bronze medal in 2019. He was the tournament MVP at the 2018 World U18 Championship, leading with seven assists and twelve points. At just 17, he made history by becoming the youngest player to represent Team USA at the IIHF World Championship in 2019.
