John Joseph Louis Johnson III is an American ice hockey defenseman currently playing with the Columbus Blue Jackets in the National Hockey League (NHL). Born on January 13, 1987, he was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes as the third overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Johnson has played with many teams in the NHL, these include the Los Angeles Kings, Columbus Blue Jackets, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers, and Chicago Blackhawks.

Johnson was traded to the Los Angeles Kings in 2006 after being drafted by the Hurricanes in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Later he joined the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2012 and played with them till the 2016-2017 season. In 2018, he joined the Pittsburgh Penguins and played with them only for one season. After the completion of his tenure with the Penguins, he joined the New York Rangers in 2020. Johnson is currently playing with the Colorado Avalanche after signing with them in February 2023. Notably, Johnson is currently on his second stint with the Avalanche, he won the Stanley Cup in his first stint with them during the 2021-22 season.
