Matthew Tkachuk is a professional ice hockey player and serves as the alternate captain for the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL), as of 2025. Tkachuk was drafted by the Calgary Flames with the sixth pick in the first round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut in the 2016-17 season and scored his first NHL goal against the Buffalo Sabres.

Tkachuk helped the Florida Panthers reach the 2023 Stanley Cup Finals, where the Western Conference champions Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Eastern Conference champions Florida Panthers four games to one. Additionally, he has been named to the NHL All-Star Game twice and came in seventh place in the 2017 Calder Memorial Trophy voting. Matthew Tkachuk has represented the United States on the international stage at several levels. He won a gold medal with the United States at the 2014 World U17 Hockey Challenge and a gold medal with the United States at the 2015 IIHF World U18 Championships. He also played for the United States at the 2016 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, where the team won a bronze medal.
