Matthew Tkachuk is an American ice hockey player who plays as a winger for the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL), as of 2025. Matthew Tkachuk was ranked as the second-best North American skater leading up to the 2016 NHL Draft. The Calgary Flames selected Tkachuk with the sixth overall pick, and he became one of the team's top players. In his rookie season, he scored 13 goals and 48 points in 76 games. He continued to improve in his second season, scoring 24 goals and 49 points in 68 games. Tkachuk was named an alternate captain for the Flames before the 2018-19 season. He continued to improve, setting new career highs in points and becoming the first player from his draft class to reach 100 career assists.

In 2022, Tkachuk was traded to the Florida Panthers. The Panthers received Tkachuk for Cole Schwindt, MacKenzie Weegar, and a lottery-protected first-round pick in 2025, in return for Jonathan Huberdeau. According to Spotrac, Tkachuk signed an eight-year, $76 million contract with the Panthers after the trade. Tkachuk scored 109 points in his debut season (2016-2017) and finished as a finalist for the Hart Memorial Trophy. He was also a part of the Florida Panthers when they reached the 2023 Stanley Cup Final.

Although Brady Tkachuk was born in Scottsdale, Arizona, he spent his early years in St. Louis, where he played youth hockey after his father's trade to the Blues in 2001. He improved his skills through two seasons with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program and another at Boston University, earning recognition as a member of the Hockey East All-Rookie team and contributing to BU's victory in the Hockey East championship.

Brady Tkachuk NHL Career

Brady Tkachuk is a professional hockey player in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted by the Ottawa Senators with the fourth overall pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. Tkachuk made his NHL debut in the 2018-19 season. In the 2021-22 season, Tkachuk had a breakout year, scoring 30 goals and 67 points in 79 games. In the 2022-23 season, he set career highs in goals (35), assists (48), and points (83). He was also named to the NHL All-Star Game for the second time.

In October 2021, Tkachuk signed a seven-year, $57.5-million contract with the Senators and was named captain of the team.
