Mitch Marner is a Canadian ice hockey professional right winger and alternate captain for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected as the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry draft by Maple Leafs. Mitch Marner started playing hockey at 3 Zones Hockey School and later went to play minor ice hockey in the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL), playing for the Vaughan Kings where he secured the GTHL title in the 2011–12 season. The following season, he joined the Don Flyers where he showcased his skills by tallying an impressive 86 points ( 41 goals and 45) assists in 55 games, ranking second in the GTHL leaderboards for scoring.

After his successful season in the GTHL, he was invited to join the St. Michael's Buzzers of the Ontario Junior A Hockey League, where he contributed to the championship victory. Marner was then offered a scholarship from the University of Michigan but instead joined the London Kings of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Notably, his stellar performance with the Knights soon caught the attention of NHL scouts, leading him to be selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
