Trent Federic, born on February 11,1998, is an American professional ice hockey forward currently playing for the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League (NHL). Notably, he was selected by the Bruins in the first round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft while still attending college.

Remarkably, he opted out of his college eligibility and joined the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League (AHL) to further hone his skills. Despite, making sporadic appearances for the Bruins through the 2020-21 season, Frederic cemented his presence in the 2021-22 season where he participated in 60 games. Notably, Frederic thrived while playing alongside Charlie Coyle and Craig Smit on a line affectionately dubbed the “11-12-13 line,” named after their respective jersey numbers. Ferderic accumulated 8 goals and 10 assists, totalling 18 points in his inaugural full-length NHL season. However, his performance waned during the Stanley Cup playoffs, failing to score any points and being benched for three games as the Bruins succumbed to a seven-game defeat against the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round.

Trent Federic Early Life

Trent Frederic grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and attended De Smet Jesuit High School there. Notably, he spent two-years as a three-sport athlete. Soon after, his talents were taken into notice by the USNTDP, at a minor hockey tournament and soon recruited them for their program. The following two seasons went by in a flash with Frederic contributing a total of 19 points in 58 appearances.

Notably, during his time with the USA Hockey program, Fredric committed to play for the Wisconsin Badgers college ice hockey team starting from the 2016-17 season. Despite the team’s inability to clinch the Big Ten Conference championships during Frederic’s Tenure, he showcased his scoring prowess by netting 15 and 17 goals in his two seasons with the Badgers, respectively. Following his sophomore year, Frederic opted to forego his remaining college eligibility and signed with the Boston Bruins.

Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Federic grew up as a fan of the St. Louis Blues. Raised as a Blues fan, he's favourite players were Keith Tkachuk and David Backes, also modeling his playing style after Backes after starting his hockey career.

Notably, he used to play baseball, football and hockey during his childhood with former football player Gus Frerotte serving as his football coach, Mike Matheny as his Baseball coach with Thachuk and Jeff Brown serving as his hockey coaches.
