The all-time medals country table for the complete span of the Olympic Games, from its first iteration in 1896 to its most recent, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, is being led by the United States in terms of total medals.

The United States has won a total of 2,985 medals, including 1,183 golds, and is followed by the Soviet Union with a total of 1,204 medals, including 473 golds. The margin between the total medals won by the two leading countries is 1,781 medals, while the margin in gold medals is 710. It is self-explanatory that the United States will stay in the lead for quite some time.

The third country in the rankings is Germany with 1,083 total and 351 golds, followed by Great Britain with 964 total and 304 golds, while France sits in the fifth rank with 911 total and 272 golds.
