As a five-star coming out of high school, Aliyah Boston attended the University of South Carolina and joined the South Carolina Gamecocks Women’s Basketball Team, led by head coach Dawn Staley in 2019. After the departure of A’ja Wilson who joined the WNBA, the Gamecocks found another gem in Boston who could play as a forward or a center.
The South Carolina forward-center dominated the SEC conference and led South Carolina to three regular season championships and three conference tournament championships. She was the SEC Rookie of the Year (2020), four-time SEC Defensive Player of the Year (2020-23), two-time SEC Player of the Year (2022 and 2023) and two-times SEC Tournament MVP (2021 and 2023). She was also named on the First-team All-SEC four consecutive times (2020-23) and made the SEC All-Defensive teams four years (2020-23) in a row.

Boston ended her career as one of the best defensive players in the history of South Carolina, ranking first in defensive win shares and defensive box plus/minus. She also became the first Gamecocks freshman to post a triple-double. In her sophomore season, she became the first Gamecocks player to achieve a triple-double in an SEC game.
During her junior year, she set Gamecocks records for most games played (37), total rebounds (462), offensive rebounds (150), and defensive rebounds (312), and posted the highest number of double-doubles at 30. She also had the most consecutive double-doubles (27) in a single season of Gamecocks history.
Throughout her college career, Aliyah Boston holds the University of South Carolina records for the most career games started (138), career rebounds (1,493), most triple-doubles (2), and career double-doubles (82). Boston also set some NCAA tournament records, including the most career rebounds in the NCAA tournament at 199 as well as the most offensive rebounds 70 at the NCAA tournament. She also has the highest average rebounds per game at 12.4 in NCAA tournament history.

Aliyah Boston attended Worcester Academy, Massachusetts, where she was selected to play in the McDonald's All-American game. She led the team to a 24-1 record and the New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class A championship in 2019.
