Her excellent basketball skills led her to be honored as the ACC Freshman of the Year in 2021. Furthermore, she was also declared the ACC Defensive Player of the Year in 2021 and was also honored as a member of the First Team All-ACC in 2021.
In her solo season with the team, Cardoso played 24 games and averaged 13.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game. She shot 57.6% from the field. After the season, she transferred to the University of South Carolina.

Kamilla Cardoso started representing the South Carolina Gamecocks after her transfer during her sophomore 2021/22 season. Despite being a reserve player, she led her team to win the national championship in 2022.
