The 29-year-old (as of September 2024) Kelsey Plum has been enjoying her prime years of basketball having won two consecutive championships in 2022 and 2023. She is a 3-time WNBA All-Star and made it to the All-WNBA team once in 2022. After breaking many NCAA scoring records, Plum was selected as the number one overall pick by the San Antonio Stars now known as ‘Las Vegas Aces’ in the 2017 WNBA Draft. She is the second-highest scorer in women’s college basketball history and held the record for most points in a single NCAA season until Caitlin Clark broke it.

As Plum joined the Aces in 2017, she was inserted into the starting lineup in a backcourt partnership with Kayla McBride. She averaged 8.5 points per game on 7.9 field-goal attempts per game, shooting 34.6% from the field and a usage rate of 22.5%, second highest in the team.

In her second season, Plum was joined by the number one overall pick from the 2018 WNBA Draft, A’ja Wilson. She improved her efficiency from the field and averaged 9.5 points per game on 7.3 field-goal attempts per game, shooting 46.3% from the field and a usage rate of 15.3%, one of the lowest for starters. With more dependable scoring threats on the court in A’ja Wilson and Kayla McBride, Plum’s pressure of scoring was significantly reduced and she averaged 4.0 assists in her second year.

The third year was a struggle for Plum as she averaged 8.6 points on 8.6 field-goal attempts per game, shooting 36.5% from the field. The addition of another young guard Jackie Young may have shifted her offensive responsibilities. However, an Achilles injury ruled her out of the 2020 season.

After coming back from the injury, Plum was back to her college form and averaged 14.8 points on 11.3 field-goal attempts per game, shooting 43.7% from the field and 38.6% from deep. She made 26 appearances and all of them came from the bench. She was voted as the sixth woman of the year and was a runner-up in the Most Improved Player award.

In 2022, Plum had the best season of her career, averaging a career-high 20.2 points per game on 14.8% from the field and 42% from the three-point line on 7.5 attempts per game. One of the most lethal three-point shooting seasons in the history of the WNBA. She made 113 three-pointers in the 2022 season, which ranks her fifth in the history for most threes made in a season. She was third in the MVP voting and made her first All-Star appearance.

She carried the same form in the 2023 season, averaging 18.7 points per game on 13.4 field-goal attempts per game, shooting 47.5% from the field and 38.9% from the deep on 6.3 attempts per game.

In her WNBA career, As of September 2024, Plum averages 14.3 points on 11.3 field-goal attempts per game, shooting 43.2% from the field and 39.0% from the three-point line on 5.3 attempts per game.
