The starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles is Jalen Hurts (as of February 2025). Hurts first entered the league in 2020 when the Eagles selected him in the second round with 53rd overall pick. He was initially the third-string quarterback, but very quickly made his way to the backup quarterback role behind Carson Wentz. By his second year with the Eagles, Jalen was given the responsibility of leading the team as their starter. However, his breakout year came in the 2022 season when he led the Eagles to a Super Bowl berth and made his first appearance in Super Bowl LVII. Hurts again played in Super Bowl LIX in 2025, throwing for 221 yards and two touchdowns, an interception, and leading the Eagles to a 40–22 win over the Chiefs (via StatMuse).

As a native of Houston, Texas, Jalen Hurts went to Channelview High School in Channelview, Texas. Interestingly, it was his father who was the football coach in the same school and he remained so for all of Hurts’s high school career. He had a standout senior year where he threw for more than 2,300 passing yards and also ran the ball for over 1,300 yards. In addition to the total yards, Hurts threw 26 touchdowns and ran for 25 more. Hurts would be ranked as a four-star recruit and was amongst the top dual-threat quarterbacks of the 2016 class. He became the SEC Freshman of the Year as well as the SEC Offensive Player of the Year while earning First-Team All-SEC honors in 2016. According to Sports Reference, he spent three years at Alabama, throwing for 5,626 yards, 48 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. For the 2019 season, Hurts transferred to the University of Oklahoma to play for the Oklahoma Sooners. In his final year at Oklahoma, he excelled with 3,851 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions, earning Second-Team All-American honors, Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year, and First-Team All-Big 12 in 2019 while finishing second in Heisman Trophy voting.

Over his college career, he played 56 games, recording 9,477 yards with 80 touchdowns, 20 interceptions, and achieving a passer rating of 162.7.
