Max Stassi is a professional baseball player for the San Francisco Giants, as of January 2025. He joined the Giants on November 24, 2024, after signing a minor league contract with the team. Stassi made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut on August 20, 2013, for the Houston Astros, where he played until 2019. On July 31, 2019, he was traded to the Los Angeles Angels, where he continued his career until the end of the 2023 season.

In December 2023, Stassi was traded to the Chicago White Sox. However, an injury required him to undergo a season-ending left hip resurfacing procedure, preventing him from playing during the 2024 season. Following his recovery, he signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants in November 2024. In 2006, Max Stassi participated in the Pan American Games for the USA and won the gold. Stassi also played at the 16 and Under Baseball World Championship of the International Baseball Federation in 2007. He later attended the University of California and played for the UCLA Bruins.

Max Stassi's father is Jim Stassi, a former catcher. Jim played for the University of Nevada from 1981 to 1982, where he was a key player and team captain. He posted statistics such as a .381 batting average and 15 home runs. Jim was also recognized as an Academic All-American in 1982 and earned first-team All-Northern California Baseball Association honors in both 1981 and 1982. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the NCBA in 1981.

Jim was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 17th round after his senior season, where he hit .403 and drove in 38 RBIs. After advancing to the AAA level with the Giants organization, he completed his professional career in the Italian Pro Baseball League.

Max Stassi attended Yuba City High School in Yuba City, California, where his father, Jim Stassi, coached him. Max Stassi's grandfather played for the Hollywood Stars in the 1940s, continuing the family’s baseball legacy. Additionally, his great-grandfather, Sam Stassi, played for the San Francisco Seals, as reported by MLB.
