His last appearance as a player in MLB was on April 19, 1990, for the Milwaukee Brewers. After his playing career, Francona started coaching the Detroit Tigers in 1996. He then joined the Philadelphia Phillies as a manager in 1997, serving until 2000. In 2003, he coached the Texas Rangers and later the Oakland Athletics. In 2004, he became the manager of the Boston Red Sox and managed them until 2011. Since then, he has managed the Cleveland Guardians from 2013 to 2023 and joined Cincinnati Reds in October 2024.
