Alex Michael Caruso is a point guard/shooting guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as of December 2024. After going undrafted in 2016, Caruso joined the Philadelphia 76ers for the 2016 NBA Summer League. He was signed by the Oklahoma City Thunder in September but was waived just a month later. Caruso then signed with the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2017 Summer League. Due to his performances, the Lakers signed Caruso to a two-way contract. In the 2019-20 off-season, Caruso signed a two-year $5.5 million deal with the Lakers. He is notable for helping the Lakers win the championship in 2020. In 2021 Chicago Bulls signed Alex Caruso in a four-year contract.
In the 2022/23 season, Caruso played 67 games with the Bulls, averaging 5.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.7 blocks per game, as per Basketball Reference. He shot 45.5% from the field, including 36.4% from deep. In 2023, Alex Caruso was named to the first team in the NBA All-Defensive First Team. After three seasons with the Chicago Bulls, Alex Caruso was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in June 2024. Also, he was the key player for the team to help them reach the NBA Cup Final 2024 where they got defeated by the Milwaukee Bucks.
