Amari Bailey is an American college basketball player who plays for the University of California, Los Angeles. Born on February 17, 2004, in New Orleans, Bailey moved to Chicago and then Los Angeles with his single mother. In Los Angeles, Bailey played high school basketball for Sierra Canyon, a school that has become popular because of NBA King Lebron James’ children Bronny and Bryce. Bailey had a very successful career at Sierra Canyon, helping his team win the Open Division State Title. At an individual level, Bailey secured several accolades such as being named California Mr. Basketball, MVP of the Gold Coast League and most importantly, being recognized as a 5-star recruit.Bailey committed to the UCLA Bruins in high school but decommitted after their coach left. He later committed to the Bruins again in 2021 and has been with the team so far. He started the 2022-23 season with a win against Sacramento State and won the Pac-12 conference Player of the Week award twice. Over his career, he was named a McDonald’s All American player and was also named in the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team. At the end of the 2022 - 2023 season Amari Bailey declared for the NBA draft.
