Andrew Wiggins is a Canadian professional basketball player for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was selected with the first overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers after one year of college basketball with the Kansas Jayhawks.

Wiggins grew up in Canada before attending his last two years of high school at Huntington Prep in West Virginia. He was named the Naismith Prep Player of the Year in his senior year.

Playing for the Kansas Jayhawks, Andrew averaged 17 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.2 steals. This resulted in the Cavaliers drafting him 1st overall. Andrew Wiggins’ Current Contract

In October of 2022, Wiggins signed a four-year $109 million extension with the Golden State Warriors. As per the deal, his annual salary will witness steady growth with his 2022-2023 season earnings being $24.3 million. Contract extensions are only granted if the player has been an exceptional contributor and performer on the field.

Wiggins has played 3 complete seasons under the Golden State Warriors banner with his most statistically impressive season being the 2020-2021 season where he averaged 18.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1 block per game.

Wiggins won his first NBA Championship with the Warriors. In the 2021-2022 playoffs, he played 22 games averaging 16.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, one steal, and one block.

His 2022-2023 playoff season has also been impressive so far where he has played all five games in the first round averaging 19.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.

Andrew Wiggins' Previous Contracts

After getting drafted first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers he was transferred to the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of the deal where the Timberwolves would get the Cavaliers' first-round pick.

Andrew Wiggins’ first rookie contract with Minnesota was a four-year $24 million deal. After having an impressive first few seasons, Wiggins signed a five-year rookie extension for a whopping 147 million dollars.

In his six seasons playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Wiggins averaged 19.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists with his best season being the 2016-2017 season where he averaged 23.6 points, 4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and one steal.

Wiggins had five 40-point games representing the Timberwolves with his career high being 47 points against the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2016-2017 regular season.

2019-2020 was Wiggins’ last season with the Timberwolves before getting traded to the Golden State Warriors. In his last 42 games with the Timberwolves, Wiggins averaged 22.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and just under one steal.
