The Atlanta Hawks are a professional basketball team who compete in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference in the NBA. Based in Atlanta, the Hawks have won twelve Division titles in their history and won their only NBA championship in 1958.

The team was originally founded as the Buffalo Bisons in 1946 as part of the National Basketball League (NBL). In 1949, the team joined the NBA as the Tri-Cities Blackhawks as part of a merger between the NBL and the BAA (Basketball Association of America). Between 1951 - 1968, the franchise was based in Milwaukee and St. Louis.

Since 1968, the team has been based in Atlanta and play their home games at the State Farm Arena. Quin Snyder is the team’s current head coach.
