Derrick Jones Jr. is an American small forward for the Los Angeles Clippers. Standing at 6 feet 6 inches, Jones Jr. is a versatile wing who can also play as a power forward. The 2024-25 NBA season is his ninth NBA season which is an impressive accomplishment considering he went undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft. Derrick Jones Jr. began his NBA career with the Phoenix Suns during the 2016–17 season and also played in the G League for the Northern Arizona Suns. In the 2017–18 season, the Miami Heat signed him to a two-way contract. In the first season, he also spent time with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the Heat’s G League affiliate. Jones Jr. had his breakout as a rotational player during the 2018–19 season as he played in 60 games for the Miami Heat, playing 19.2 minutes, and averaging 7 points, and 4 rebounds per game. His role expanded in the 2019–20 season, as he played 23.3 minutes per game and was also part of the Heat team that made it to the NBA Finals in 2020.

After his time with Miami, Derrick Jones Jr. had stints with the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2020–21 season and the Chicago Bulls from 2021 to 2023. For the 2023–24 season, Derrick Jones Jr. joined the Los Angeles Clippers, where he experienced a resurgence in his career. He played a career-high 76 games, starting in 66 of them, and recorded a career-best three-point shooting percentage of 34.3% while averaging 8.6 points per game.
