Cam Ward is an American quarterback who played one season of collegiate football with the Miami Hurricanes in 2024. The senior quarterback was born on May 25, 2002, in West Columbia, Texas, U.S. The 6-foot-2-inch player provided his commitment to play for the University of the Incarnate Word. Ward managed to become their starting quarterback in his freshman season. In the 2020-2021 season, which was cut short following the COVID-19 pandemic, Ward played six games where he recorded an FCS-leading 24 touchdowns against four interceptions with two rushing touchdowns.

Additionally, he passed for 2,260 yards, as per ESPN. Following his performance, Ward was awarded the Jerry Rice Award as the most outstanding freshman in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision. As a sophomore, Ward passed for 4,648 yards and 47 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. Due to his performance, he was named the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Year. Ward entered the transfer portal at the end of the season and joined Washington State in January 2022.

Although Ward announced that he would be entering the NFL Draft 2024, he decided to use his remaining eligibility to transfer to Miami. He announced his commitment to the Miami Hurricanes in January 2024. For the Miami Hurricanes football team, Cam Ward played in 12 games, leading the team to 10 wins and 2 losses. He completed 293 of 435 pass attempts, achieving a completion percentage of 67.4%. Over the season, he passed for a total of 4,313 yards, averaging 9.5 yards per pass attempt (via ESPN). Additionally, he was honored with the 2024 Davey O’Brien Award and the 2024 ACC Player of the Year trophy.
