Smith started his football career at Bishop Alemany High School where he had a promising high school career and played in several positions. He showcased his versatility and athleticism by playing as a cornerback, wide receiver, and running back and was named a 2020 Prep Star All-American. In his junior year, Smith registered 60 tackles and two interceptions on defense while making 10 receptions for 211 yards with two touchdowns.
