Kaleb joined college in 2022 and started playing for the Hawkeyes as a freshman. In 2022, Kaleb Johnson had 13 appearances as a freshman and started six of those games as a running back. He received an All-Big Ten honorable mention from league coaches and was named the Big Ten Conference Offensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week after the win at Purdue. Last season, as a junior, Johnson led the roster with 1,537 rushing yards on 240 carries with 21 rushing touchdowns
