Quarterback Ty Simpson of the Alabama Crimson Tide was a five-star recruit who chose to play college football at Alabama rather than accept offers from Clemson, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. During his junior year, he passed for 1,888 yards and 20 touchdowns and ran for 311 yards and seven more touchdowns. Simpson was raised in Martin, Tennessee, and attended Westview High School.

Simpson ran 92 times for 862 yards and 11 touchdowns and tossed for 2,827 yards and 41 touchdowns against three interceptions after leading Westview to the 2A Tennessee State Championship. Simpson was selected as the Gatorade Player of the Year for Tennessee.

Simpson placed just behind two players at his position, Cade Klubnik of Clemson and Conner Weigman of Texas A&M, finishing 26th in the nation among all high school athletes. According to 247Sports' composite rankings, Simpson was ranked No. 2 overall and No. 3 among Tennessee quarterbacks in the 2022 recruiting class.

Simpson signed up for the Alabama Crimson Tide early in January of 2022. In the closing seconds of a 55-0 triumph, he made his college debut against Utah State, completing one of his two pass attempts. Simpson played in four games as a redshirt during the season, completing four of five passes for 35 yards. In Week 1 against Middle Tennessee, he only completed one pass on one attempt while also rushing twice for 12 yards and a touchdown.

The net worth of Ty Simpson is estimated to be $100,000 as of November 2023.
