Michael Sainristil, an American football wide receiver and defensive back for the Michigan Wolverines, was born on October 3, 2000.

Sainristil pledged to play football for the University of Michigan in November 2018. He made waves in Michigan's 2019 spring practice by enrolling early. The offensive staff prevailed by using him as a wide receiver, despite the defensive coaches at Michigan trying to employ him as a cornerback.

As a freshman, Sainristil had little action and only caught a single pass for eight yards in the first seven games, despite having a solid spring practice performance. On October 26, 2019, he had a breakthrough performance against Notre Dame, with three receptions for 73 yards and his first score as a college player.

Following the loss of Tarik Black, Nico Collins, and Donovan Peoples-Jones as receivers, Sainristil became more involved in Michigan's offense in 2020.

Sainristil was shifted to defensive back in 2022. In addition to having seven pass breakups, four and a half tackles for loss, and two quarterback sacks during the 2022 regular season, he finished second on the team with 31 solo tackles.
