He was a well-regarded player who was the No.4 ranked player in the state of Virginia. Originally from Manassas, Virginia, Tylek played high school football at Unity Reed, where he was rated a four-star prospect. Williams was selected to participate in the Army All-American Bowl, as per his college roster. But Tyleik didn’t play his senior year of high school, as Virginia canceled its football season due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The 6-foot-3, 300-pound defensive tackle embarked on his collegiate football journey with Ohio State over offers from Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Alabama, LSU and South Carolina, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, and Virginia among others in 2021. He burst onto the scene in his true freshman season, appearing in 12 games and recording 16 tackles and five sacks. After a promising freshman campaign, Tyleik lost 45 pounds and was eyed for an increased role in his sophomore season. In 2022, he saw a dip in his production while appearing in all of the Buckeyes' 13 games. The Virginia native ended the year with only 21 tackles and a sack. But this past year, Williams was one of the best defensive tackles in college football, registering 53 tackles, including 10 for loss, three sacks and five pass breakups. After a four-year college career, Williams has declared himself for the 2025 NFL draft.
