Philip Dean Salt is a Welsh professional cricketer who plays as a wicketkeeper-batsman for the England men’s cricket team across all international formats. Initially a football fan and a follower of Manchester City, he shifted his focus to cricket after moving to the Caribbean at the age of 10. He later earned a scholarship to play cricket at Reed School in Surrey, which led to his return to the United Kingdom at 15. From there on, he was recommended to Keith Medlycott and joined their academy, as per ESPN Cricinfo.

Renowned for his aggressive stroke play, Phil Salt stepped onto the international stage in August 2021, making his T20I debut against Pakistan. His One Day International journey commenced in January 2022 against West Indies. On the domestic front, he plays for Lancashire County Cricket Club and features for Manchester Originals in The Hundred, as of February 2025. In the Indian Premier League, Salt first showcased his talents with the Delhi Capitals in 2023 before donning the Kolkata Knight Riders jersey in 2024. Phil Salt has a brother named Sam Salt and a sister named Dani Salt, as revealed on his Instagram profile. Sam Salt is a former tennis player with an impressive background in the sport. He captained England in the Four Nations competition and led two age groups at Graves to National Junior Club League titles. Sam Salt has transitioned from player to coach, holding key roles such as LTA LPDC Head Coach at Graves Tennis Centre and serving as Head Coach and Tennis Manager there from 2015 to 2021. In 2021, he became the 10&U Head Coach for Yorkshire Tennis, leading the county to a County Cup victory in 2022. Phil Salt has shared his relationship with Abi McLaven, as per multiple Instagram posts. They have been together for about five years, with Salt first making their relationship public in an Instagram post on May 15, 2020.

Abi McLaven graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Land Use Planning and Development from Nottingham Trent University in June 2018. Since September 2023, she has been working independently as a Freelance Virtual Assistant at The Assist Agency, while also serving as a Marketing Assistant at The Ark starting in August 2023. As of February 2025, she continues to hold both roles.

Before taking on these positions, McLaven began her career as a Land Team Support at Barratt Homes in September 2018, just three months after graduating. At the same time, she started working at Barton Willmore (now Stantec) as a London Planning Support in July 2020. She left Barton Willmore one month later and continued her role at Barratt Homes.
