T20 World Cup 2014 winners
The Sri Lankan cricket team were the winners of the T20 World Cup 2014. A team led by the young and talented Dinesh Chandimal, the Sri Lankan team performed outstandingly in the tournament. They ranked at the top of their group in the Super 10 stage and lost only one match throughout the 2014 T20 World Cup. Their spin attack was a prime factor in winning matches for their team, with the likes of Herath and Senanayake suffocating batters in the middle overs. In the finals, Lasith Malinga replaced Dinesh Chandimal as the captain due to Dinesh missing out because of an injury. Sri Lanka restricted India to a mere total of 130 runs in their 20 overs, which the Sri Lankan batters easily chased down with 13 balls and 6 wickets to spare.
