Niki Lauda was an Austrian Formula One (F1) driver. Often addressed as the 'King Rat', or the 'Super Rat', he was also an aviation entrepreneur. He owned three airlines, Lauda Air, Niki, and Lauda. He bagged the F1 World Driver’s Championship three times in 1975, 1977, and 1984. He earned them while in Ferrari and McLaren and is the only F1 driver in history to achieve this feat for both giants of the sport. He also posed as a consultant for the Scuderia Ferrari team and followingly worked as a team manager in the Jaguar F1 racing team. In the 1976 German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring, Lauda was seriously injured in a crash that burst his Ferrari 312T2 into flames. Due to inhaling hot toxic fumes and suffering severe burns, he almost nearly faced death. Following a period of ill health, Niki Lauda died in his sleep on 20 May 2019, aged 70.
