Liam Lawson is a New Zealand racing driver who will be competing in the Formula One championship for Red Bull Racing in the 2025 season. In February 2019, he joined the Red Bull Junior Team and MP Motorsport to compete in the FIA Formula 3 Championship. On 15 January 2021, it was announced that Lawson would compete in the 2021 FIA Formula 2 Championship. His first year in the Formula 2 Championship saw Lawson finish ninth in the overall standings at the end of the season. After joining the Red Bull Junior Team in 2019, Lawson first experienced an F1 car at the 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed, driving the 2011 Red Bull RB7. His actual Formula One debut came in at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix, driving for AlphaTauri, substituting for Daniel Ricciardo, and finished in the 13th place. Later, Lawson raced at the 2023 Italian Grand Prix for AlphaTauri and finished in 11th place. In the 2023 Japanese Grand Prix, Lawson finished 12th and after a rough Qatar Grand Prix, Lawson returned to his role as a reserve driver for Red Bull Racing and RB Formula One Team (previously known as AlphaTauri) in 2024. In 2024, Lawson replaced Ricciardo for six remaining rounds of the 2024 Formula One season. However, Lawson finished 21st in the standings, earning just four points across the six Grand Prix.
