As we approach the 2024 Paris Olympics, the field for golf is finalized, with around 60 golfers from various countries set to compete. Professional golfers seldom receive an opportunity to represent their nation as golf is an individual sport, but the Olympics is one of the rare occasions where they get to represent their country.

Most countries have 2 golfers representing them, while the United States will field 4 golfers since the four are in the Top-15 in the OWGR. However, since golfers on LIV Golf do not receive OWGR points, some top players are missing from the field for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Here are 5 prominent golfers who will not be competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics:

The 2024 US Open Champion, Bryson DeChambeau, will miss the 2024 Paris Olympics as only the top 4 golfers from the United States in the OWGR can qualify. Scottie Scheffler (1), Xander Schauffele (3), Wyndham Clark (5), and Collin Morikawa (7) have qualified and will represent Team USA.

Bryson DeChambeau, ranked 9th in the world rankings, misses out. He struggled to improve his rank as he does not receive OWGR points on LIV Golf.

DeChambeau seems to be in good form as well with a victory at the 2024 US Open, a runner-up finish at the PGA Championship, and a T6 finish at the Masters this year.

2. Cameron Smith

The Australian golfer has failed to make it to the Olympics as Min Woo Lee and Jason Day are ranked above him. The 2022 Open Championship winner is ranked 70th in the OWGR as he has not received any points since joining LIV Golf.

Cameron Smith has previously competed in the Olympics. He represented Team Australia in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and finished T10.

Jordan Spieth is one of the most prominent names on the PGA Tour. However, his form this season has been concerning as he has only 3 top-10 finishes in 17 starts this year. He is currently ranked 32 in the world rankings and did not qualify to represent Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Spieth's best finish this year came in the first event of the season, The Sentry, where he finished 3rd.

Justin Thomas is another former Team USA Olympian who will not be competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics. He competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and finished T22 at the event. However, this year, Thomas has had a bittersweet season and is currently ranked 25th in the OWGR.

Thomas has 5 top-10 finishes from 14 starts this season, with his best finish of T3 coming at The American Express.

In his two Olympic appearances, Reed finished T11 and T22 respectively and failed to win a medal.
