After an eventful week at the Presidents Cup, the PGA Tour is back in 72-hole strokeplay mode with the 2024 Sanderson Farms Championship. The next event of the FedEx Fall will take place from Thursday, October 3 to Sunday, October 6 at the Country Club of Jackson in Jackson, Mississippi.

The 2024 Sanderson Farms Championship will feature 132 players competing for the purse size of $7,600,000. Besides, a good run here will also give the players a push in the FedEx Cup standings, helping them to secure their card or earn a spot in Signature events for the following season.

In this article, we will take a look at the five interesting storylines to follow the 2024 Sanderson Farms Championship.

5 interesting storylines to follow the 2024 Sanderson Farms Championship

1) Rickie Fowler returns

Rickie Fowler is making his return to the PGA Tour after a break of over two months. The Open Championship in July was his last start. He became a dad for the second time in August and then couldn't qualify for the FedEx Cup and Presidents Cup.

Fowler will be hoping to regain his form and make some strong finishes toward the end of the season.

2) Ben Griffin's redemption

Last year, Ben Griffin fell short of winning the 2024 Sanderson Farms Championship despite having a three-stroke lead after 54 holes. His sloppy performance on Sunday eventually cost him the title in the playoffs.

This time, Griffin will be hoping not to repeat last year's mistakes.

3) The FedEx Cup race after the FedEx Cup

The Aon Next 10 (players ranked 51 to 60th in the FedEx Cup through the Fall) will earn a berth at the first two Signature Events of next season. However, No. 60 Min Woo Lee is not competing this week, and this could be an opportunity for Ben Griffin to move further up with a strong week in Jackson.

Additionally, the players ranked near the bottom half will be looking to climb up the standings to secure a safer position. Matti Schmid is currently 125th in the standings and is in desperate need of some strong finishes.

4) Nick Dunlap's quest for PGA Tour Rookie of the Year

Nick Dunlap is among the top favorites for the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year. He is also entering the field as one of the top contenders. A win here would further strengthen his chances of winning the award.

The 20-year-old golfer has won two events this season, with the American Express victory coming as an amateur.

5) Luke List eyes title defense

In the past 50 years, no player has successfully defended his title at the Sanderson Farms Championship. Last year, Luke List triumphed in a five-man playoff. This time, the pressure will be on him to break the 50-year record.
