Cameron Young, a PGA golfer, turned professional in 2019 and joined the PGA Tour in 2022, winning the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award. He has participated in 63 events and made the cut in 50 of them, though he won none. Young has two top-3 finishes and seven runner-up finishes. Most recently, he finished runner-up at the 2024 Valspar Championship. His OWGR is No. 16 as of May 2024. His first professional win was at the 2017 Lenos Advisor New York State Open as an amateur, along with seven amateur titles between 2015 and 2019.
After turning professional, he had two Korn Ferry Tour wins in 2021. At the PGA Tour, Young initially got special temporary status, but his 19th finish on the season point list earned him his PGA Tour card. The 2022 season was Young's breakthrough, as he finished as a runner up at the Genesis Invitational, climbing to the Top-100 OWGR. Further, he finished in second and third place at the Open Championship and the PGA Championship, respectively. Another notable runner-up was his 2023 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.
Cameron Young's Caddie
Cameron Young's caddie is Steve Underwood as of May 2024, according to the Caddie Network.
Unfortunately, there is no information available about Underwood or how he met Young, but previously, Young had Paul Tesori, a season caddie, on his bag. In 2023, Tesori and Webb Simpson, the 2012 U.S. Open champion, parted ways after 12 years, and so Tesori joined Young. But they split in December 2023, with Tesori joining Brendon Todd.
In January 2024, Young had Wayne De Haas on his bag; despite having no caddying experience, De Haas did assist Ernie Els at the 2022 U.S. Senior Open Championship. De Haas was a pro golfer who turned professional in 1997 and spent the majority of his golf career on the DP World Tour and Minor League. He only made one cut in the eight events he participated in on the European Tour. His most recent start was at the 2008 Joburg Open, when he did not make the cut.
Young initially had Scott McKean, his college friend, as his looper, who even served as Young's best man at his wedding. Their player-caddie association began in August 2020, during the third week of a four-tournament run, when Young needed a caddie for the Albertsons Boise Open. Shortly afterward, Young contacted McKean once more regarding the Korn Ferry Tour Championship, and McKean again caddied for him. After a few more events, McKean joined Young as his caddie full-time until 2022.
Young then teamed up with Chad Reynolds for a brief period; Reynolds had earlier worked with Vijay Singh and Keegan Bradley, before teaming up with Tesori.
