Day 1 of the 2023 Valero Texas Open concluded on Thursday with Justin Lower in the lead. The event was off to a great start before play was suspended due to fog at 7:23 pm. It will now resume at 7:45 am on Friday.
The Texas Open, hosted at the TPC San Antonio’s Oaks Course, saw some fiery competition on day 1. Players like Matt Kuchar and Padraig Harrington found their way to the lead before settling for a 5-way T2 with M.J. Daffue, Roberto Díaz and Patrick Rodgers. Defending champion J.J. Spaun struggled in round 1 and sat T49 at the end of the day.
As the play enters Day 2, all eyes will be on Kuchar and Harrington, both sitting at 4 under. The golfers will be looking to dethrone the leader as they eye an invitation to the Masters with a win in San Antonio.
