2024 Shriners Children's Open chief issues statement after safety concerns due to dangerous weather

After Round 1 of the 2024 Shriners Children's Open was suspended due to darkness, the tee times of Round 2 have been delayed due to high winds. On social media platform X, the PGA Tour posted that the total delay would last four hours.

It was also mentioned that the start time is now scheduled for 10:55 AM PT. Shortly after this update, the tour also posted a statement from Chief Referee Stephen Cox. He spoke about the delay surrounding Round 2 of the 2024 Shriners Children's Open.

Cox said:

“The Friday morning delay at the Shriners Children’s Open is due to extremely high winds we are experiencing in Las Vegas. For the safety of operational staff, tournament volunteers, spectators, and our athletes and caddies, we have extended the delay as we continue to monitor the situation.”

It's worth noting that when play in Round 1 of the 2024 Shriners Children's Open was suspended due to darkness, eight golfers were yet to complete their rounds. Those players are expected to resume their play on Friday.
